Sterling Silver Spoon Earrings

The Law

All of our spoon jewellery is made from sterling silver cutlery and either have new hallmarks or the original marks with the addition of an official London Assay Office change of use serial number and accompanying certificate.
Many people are unaware that it is actually illegal to sell spoon jewellery with original, historic hallmarks still intact unless permission has been granted by an assay office. Items sold without this would also be prohibited from resale in the future. In order to sell them on, the hallmark would have to be removed reducing the value considerably to less than the scrap weight of the item. Whilst this may seem a little unusual and to some makers an inconvenience, it is the law and is in place to protect the consumer.
